Trevor Noah got ‘revenge’ on NFL fans in his Grammys monologue and Taylor Swift loved it

Trevor Noah used his Grammys monologue to defend Taylor Swift against ongoing criticism from NFL fans.

The TV comedian was presenting the 66th Grammy awards ceremony from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Swift was in attendance to collect the Album of the Year award for her 2023 smash hit ‘Midnights’.

The pop icon has been dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since September and the media attention on Swift has left many NFL fans frustrated at the pop queen’s in-game airtime. 

Swift is regularly shown in TV close ups in live broadcasts of Chiefs game but Noah moved to defend the 34-year-old against “unfair” criticism. 

During his introduction to the broadcast on CBS, Noah said: “I think it is so unfair how NFL fans have been complaining about the cameras cutting to Taylor Swift.

“Right? Like she’s controlling the cameras at the games. Like, just let her live, let her live.

“In fact, tonight, on behalf of Taylor, I’m gonna give her a break. Every time they mention Taylor Swift, I’m gonna get revenge. I’m going to cut to someone who played football,” Noah said as the Grammy cameras cut to former NFL player Terry Crews.

 “You like that Terry Cruz? You better fix your face Terry,” Noah continued.

“Yeah we’re going to be on you all night Terry, no relaxing for you. Do you work for the CIA Terry? Huh? I can read lips Terry so I can read what you’re saying.”

Swift appeared delighted as she laughed along with the joke.

Last month, at the Golden Globe Awards, Swift was much less impressed by a joke made at her expense by comedian Jo Koy.

“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” the host said.

As the camera switched to a close-up of Swift, she could be seen pursing her lips before taking a sip from her drink, a decidedly icy expression on her face.

It’s the start of a busy week for Swift, who flies to Tokyo on tour this week before returning to America to watch Kelce in Sunday’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
