UNIMAID Student Brutally Assaults 21-year-old Lady For Rejecting His Love Proposal

-

A distressing incident involving Saleem Ibrahim, a student of the University of Maiduguri’s Department of Biochemistry, has surfaced, alleging his involvement in a violent attack on 21-year-old Hauwa Abatcha Ngala.

According to reports, Saleem persistently pressured Hauwa, a student at the College of Nursing Sciences in Maiduguri, to accept his romantic advances, which she consistently rebuffed.

Driven by rejection, Saleem allegedly launched a brutal assault on Hauwa, striking her with a club until she lost consciousness.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed that Saleem was initially apprehended by the police but was later released on the orders of Borno State Secretary to the Government, Hon. Bukar Tijjani.

It’s alleged that Saleem’s relentless pursuit of Hauwa escalated into threats of violence, with Saleem purportedly warning her that she faced dire consequences if she didn’t reciprocate his feelings.

The incident culminated in a violent assault on Hauwa on February 26, 2024, leaving her severely injured and bleeding from a head wound. Despite the severity of her injuries, Saleem reportedly fled the scene, leaving her to be rescued by relatives.

Subsequent to his arrest, Saleem was released by the police, prompting outrage from Hauwa’s family, who lodged multiple complaints demanding justice for the victim.

Despite Saleem’s alleged confession and threats, there has been no contact from authorities regarding further legal action.

Jummai Mshelia, the Borno Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), condemned the attack and urged swift legal action to ensure justice is served.

She lamented the prevalence of such crimes in society and called on the public to report incidents of abuse to relevant authorities to combat the scourge effectively.
