We’ll be ready for the FIFA World Cup — Falcons captain Onome Ebi

Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi says the team won’t leave any stone unturned as they continue preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The team engaged in two friendly matches, against Haiti and New Zealand in the last international break.

The Randy Waldrum’s side defeated Haiti 2-1, before beating the Ferns of New Zealand 3-0 in the second game.

The team will square up with co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and the Republic of Ireland in World Cup Group.

“We are working hard, because we are aware that we are in a difficult pool. We have the reigning champions Canada who we have faced twice before, losing one and drawing one. Then we have Ireland and Australia who we have not played against,” Ebi told CAFonline.com.

Ebi who is set to participate in her 6th FIFA Women’s World Cup, however refuted claims that the Super Falcons are under pressure to prove themselves at the mundial.

“We know it will also be very tough against Australia because they will be playing at home. We are under no pressure, however, and we are calm about these matches.

“All of these teams have qualified and earned their right to be at the World Cup. We have to be ready to face them,” the centre-back added.

Ebi was on target as the Falcons streched their winning streak to three games, with 3-0 win over New Zealand on Tuesday.
