Wolves are set to avoid breaching Premier League spending rules after registering a loss of £67.2million for the financial year to May 31 2023.

As reported by BBC Sport, the figures follow on from a loss of £46.1million for the previous year.

Wolves are set to avoid sanctions, such as a fine or points deductions.

Premier League rules state that clubs are able to lose a maximum of £105million over three years or £35million per year, before they are sanctioned.

Wolves had to be careful with their finances in order to avoid a points deduction, especially after the sanction faced by Everton, who were initially given a ten-point deduction which was later reduced to six points.

Julen Lopetegui left his position as Wolves boss due to frustrations over his transfer budget

Julen Lopetegui left his position as Wolves manager in August, just prior to the start of the Premier League season.

The Spaniard expressed his frustration with not being able to spend as much as he wanted to during the summer transfer window.

Gary O’Neil replaced Lopetegui and Wolves are currently in ninth place in the Premier League, while they are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Nottingham Forest were charged for breaching financial rules last year and face a hearing this month.
