Ahead of the 2023 general election, the General Overseer of the Salvation Ministry, David Ibiyomie, has warned his members against vote-buying.
Speaking to his members during a recent service, Ibiyeomie said anyone who collects money to vote is a complete Esau who sold his birthright to Jacob, his younger brother because of hunger.
The clergyman advised his congregants to shun the collection of money from politicians and vote for who their conscience told them to vote.
Ibiyomie added that any candidate who gives the electorate money to vote for him will not perform well in office.
He said: “If you collect money to vote, you are Esau. You are complete Esau, you sold your birthright. Don’t collect money, vote who your conscience tells you to vote.”
“Poverty, don’t collect money. Okay, how much will somebody give you, when you eat today, won’t you eat tomorrow? Some of you are saying, ‘this man na him go give us money.’ If any man gives you money to vote him, he is not going to perform”.
