Samuel Onikeku, the technical director of the AFN, expressed his optimism and satisfaction with the athletes’ response to their final training sessions, Sports247 Reports.

The AFN is aiming high, with a target of at least 10 gold medals in the championship. “We don’t want to be the set that will lose the title,” Onikeku stated, reflecting the team’s determination to maintain Nigeria’s strong performance in athletics at the Games.

The Athletics event is set to start on the 18th, with the last batch of foreign athletes arriving on the 15th. Onikeku confirmed that about 45% of the foreign-based athletes have already arrived, including notable athletes like Ese Brume and Ruth.

“We believe that we are ready,” Onikeku affirmed, expressing confidence in the team’s preparation and readiness for the competition. “We are ready and believe that things will go smoothly.”

With such optimism and readiness, the Nigerian athletics team is certainly one to watch at the upcoming All African Games.
