Zidora Africa @Play: ‘We’re Comfortable in the Arena’ – John Obeya Oda Embraces All African Games Martial Arts Demo

John Obeya Oda, a participant in the All African Games martial arts demonstration, shared his experiences with Sports247 from the event. Despite the demonstration nature of the competition, Oda expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase his skills and talents in the arena.

“It’s great being here in the All African Games, having the opportunity to participate in more of a demonstration. But as fighters, we’re always comfortable in the arena. Whenever we step there, we feel free to show what we are made of,” Oda remarked, highlighting the comfort and confidence he feels as a competitor.

While the event did not feature scoring for medal counting, Oda emphasized that all participants received medals for their efforts. He expressed contentment with the recognition and the chance to demonstrate their abilities on such a platform.

“Yeah, I’m not really disappointed because we still have more stones to climb, we still have more ladders to climb, and we’re developing every day,” Oda stated, demonstrating a positive outlook and determination to continue improving in the sport.

Oda’s reflections offer insight into the mindset of athletes participating in demonstration events, emphasizing the value of the opportunity to compete and showcase their talents on a regional stage.
