A Twitter user, Mohammed Jammal, posted on his Twitter handle that the Dangote refinery would be commissioned on January 24, 2023.
The tweet has since gathered over 81,000 views, and more than 500 Likes and retweets, and circulated by online blogs and some news media.
Findings show that the claim is FALSE.
Here are the Facts:
Checks have shown that there is no official announcement by the Dangote Group on the commissioning as it only announced that the 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery would be commissioned before the end of the first quarter of 2023.
Also, the Group head of Corporate Communications at the Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, told the newsmen that the reports making the rounds are not true and that the general public should discard the reports making the rounds.
