Man Utd News: Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS prepare to introduce elite sporting management structure at Manchester United

As soon as ink was put to paper on the deal which brought Sir Jim Ratcliffe into the fold at Manchester United it was clear that there would be a revolution inside the club.

Years of neglect at the hands of the bumbling Glazer family saw unqualified person after unqualified person promoted into positions of importance on the technical side of the club’s operations, and unsurprisingly they all failed miserably.

From the specialist in failing-upwards, Ed Woodward, right through to Richard Arnold and John Murtough, Manchester United have lacked any proper sporting structure for a decade.

It has left the club years behind Manchester City, Liverpool and other European rivals, which has given Ratcliffe a monumental task to turn the club around.

Ineos plan to rebuild sporting structure

Part of this plan will be to introduce a sporting structure to rival that of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, bringing in the best-in-class to operate in specific roles within this new technical department.

No longer will transfer deals stagnate as various United employees wait for the Tampa-stricken Joel and Avram Glazer to return their calls.

Ineos plan to set a budget for the technical team to work with and will leave the professionals to get on with the job in hand.

Omar Berrada has already been signed from Manchester City, and he will work as CEO, however Dan Ashworth is the club’s top candidate to oversee all footballing operations.

As far as recruitment goes, United hope to tempt one of Julian Ward or Jason Wilcox to head negotiations and transfer strategy.

Wilcox is currently employed by Southampton and Ashworth is on a period of gardening leave at Newcastle United, which may force Ineos to wait before they can put together their dream team.

Ward, on the other hand, is unemployed after his time with Liverpool came to an end. This would be the easiest deal for the Reds to complete with regards to short-term attainability.
