NPFL wants more spots for local players in Super Eagles

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) wants equal opportunities for home-based players in the Super Eagles.

The NPFL believes the move will stimulate the aspirations of players to stay in the country rather than seeking clubs outside.

The body also observed that it will improve the players confidence and quality of play in the NPFL.

The plea was made as part of the high points of the communique reached at the inaugural NPFL Board and Staff retreat in Abuja.

The Super Eagles have been dominated by overseas professionals in recent years.

Goalkeepers Amas Obasogie and Ojo Olorunleke were two local players involved in Super Eagles’ last international outings against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
