Todd Boehly enrages Chelsea fans by setting the most expensive ticket price in Premier League history for Man United clash in April – for a seat directly behind Mauricio Pochettino

Todd Boehly has incensed Chelsea fans by demanding the most ticket expensive price in Premier League history for their clash with Manchester United in April.

Seats behind Mauricio Pochettino will be flogged for a staggering amount as part of the ‘Dugout Club’ premium hospitality package.

Boehly introduced the ‘Dugout Club’ after taking over as owner in 2022 and there is alarm that corporate clients are being favoured over regular supporters. 

The seats behind Pochettino will cost £5,000. That’s £2,000 more than even the most expensive non-executive season ticket in the league, which can be found at Fulham.

‘£5,000 is an alarming amount to spend on a ticket and is totally unaffordable for your ‘average football supporter’ – it is really poor that these influential seats behind the bench are being filled by corporate visitors,’ Dom Rosso, vice-chair of Chelsea’s Supporters’ Trust, told The Telegraph.

‘More and more general admission seats at Stamford Bridge are being made unavailable and have been transferred to Club Chelsea – many fans feel like the club is prioritising its Club Chelsea guests over loyal supporters.

‘Record-breaking premium pricing has clearly increased matchday revenue and we sincerely hope that this additional income will be considered when deciding future general admission season ticket prices.’

Tickets in the ‘Dugout Club’ have been going for £700 so far this season.  

While a view of the back of Pochettino’s head might appeal to some, there are other offerings that might be more worth the money to others. 

For £5,000 you could afford to take yourself and 165 adult friends to watch Sheffield United against Wolves on Sunday. 

For £4,000, you and a special one can get a cracking hospitality ticket for West Ham.

That includes a private tour over the London skyline in private helicopter; a private tour of their Rush Green Training Ground; private car transfer to the London Stadium; private table in their Forge Lounge, with a three-course meal; complimentary house beer, wine and soft drinks in your lounge space, as well as meet and greet with a West Ham ambassador and lower tier seating behind the tunnel for the match.

Manchester City are thought to have previously had the priciest ticket going at £4,200.

Again, there are a host of extra that come with that. Part with your money and you get executive transport to the Etihad Stadium from a City centre location; a drinks and canapes reception; a meet and greet with a Man City club legend; a behind-the- scenes stadium tour with a club legend; and a private talk from one of the first-team analysts.

But it doesn’t stop there. You would also get to see the teams in the glass players’ tunnel, go pitchside to watch the players warm up; enjoy a five-course fine dining experience with inclusive drinks; sit in luxury, padded, heated seats directly behind the team dugouts, meet some of the first-team players after the match; and have a personal photographer capturing your day. 

Chelsea did not offer comment to The Telegraph but did point out that the seats were not previously in general admission. 

Those who buy a £5,000 ticket will get the chance to ‘greet the team as they arrive at Stamford Bridge in the player arrival area and venture pitchside to watch the warm-up’. ‘Club Chelsea’ hospitality will also be available before and after the game.
