Transfer: We’ll give him a big hug, tell him ‘bye bye’ – Welbeck on Caicedo’s Chelsea move

Former Manchester United and Arsenal forward, Danny Welbeck, has said that Brighton players are treating Moises Caicedo no differently despite the midfielder’s links away from the club.

The Ecuadorian midfielder has informed Brighton of his wish to join Chelsea, but the Seagulls want to sell for only a £100million-plus price.

The midfielder is still a Brighton player, and Welbeck, who has represented several clubs in the Premier League, insists there are no problems with the 21-year-old in the dressing room.

Speaking with talkSPORT about the midfielder, Welbeck said, “Moises is an incredible player and an incredible guy, he’s a top person.

“The decision is not down to us, but we treat him exactly the same as we did from the first day he arrived.

“While he’s still here, we’re still staying with him every single day, and until that changes, then we’ll give him a big hug and we’ll say, ‘Bye bye’.

“But if he doesn’t, we’ll give him a big hug and say, ‘Hello’!”
